Supporting ALONE this season

Supporting Irish charities throughout the year is hugely important to us here at Max Benjamin and Christmas is no exception.

Having elderly parents ourselves we know only too well the importance of social interaction, companionship and support. All of these once simple things have become so incredibly difficult to do during the Covid-19 pandemic. We are very lucky, our parents live close by, we can check in on them regularly, share a social distancing cup of tea, but for some elderly none of these options exist and that is why we have chosen to partner with the amazing team at ALONE again this Christmas, as it’s a charity we hold very close to our hearts.

To raise as much funds as we can we have created an exclusive festive scented candle called White Christmas and will be donating 10% of all profits from the sales of this candle to ALONE. The candle is accompanied with a beautiful gold lid.

ALONE work with older people in Ireland who are socially isolated, homeless or living in crisis and they support them to age at home. They provide direct support to hundreds of older people every week through their four main services – Support Coordination, Befriending, Housing with Support and Campaigns for Change.

Did you know?

• ALONE has more than 150 homes for older people and there is currently a housing crisis amongst the older population.
• 1 in 3 older people live on their own
• 45% of people 75 years and over are lonely often or some of the time.
• Social isolation increases the risk of developing dementia.
